PRIVACY POLICY

1. Introduction & On-Device Architecture

This Privacy Policy describes how the “Siren: Personal Safety App” handles user information. The application is engineered with a strict local-first, zero-server architecture. Your configuration settings, specified emergency contacts, local audio recordings, and precise geographical coordinates remain entirely sandboxed on your physical mobile device. The developer does not own, maintain, or operate remote servers to ingest, aggregate, harvest, or monetize your safety telemetry.

2. Data Processing & Functional Purpose

To execute its automated check-in services, shake detection mechanics, and custom incoming call simulations, the application interacts with specific categories of data on a strictly localized basis:

  • Precise Location Data: When an SOS is triggered via the Shake-to-SOS mechanism or when the 3-Strike Check-In timer expires without a user response, the application queries your device’s GPS to generate a valid Google Maps location link. This link is packaged locally and sent directly to your designated emergency contacts via your device’s native communication channels.

  • Emergency Contact Information: Selected contact details stay strictly inside the application’s local sandbox storage to determine where automated SOS alerts are routed.

  • Audio Voice Recordings: Custom voice audio files recorded or uploaded by you to simulate a realistic conversation during the Fake Call scenario are saved directly to internal app-isolated storage and are never streamed or uploaded remotely.

3. Device Permissions & System Frameworks

To guarantee operational persistence even when your device screen is locked or asleep, the application leverages specific native operating system permissions. These are invoked exclusively for direct on-device utility:

Permission / API Group

Technical Application Requirement

Data Handling Practice

Background & High-Precision Location

Allows the application to query GPS modules to generate an accurate Google Maps emergency tracking link even if the device is in a pocket, asleep, or locked.

Local Only. The location is only processed locally to construct an emergency SMS text or alert. It is never transmitted to the developer.

WakeLock API & Background Persistence Services

Prevents the operating system from forcing the application into a deep sleep, ensuring shake gestures are captured and timers expire reliably.

Local Only. System scheduling process configuration; no data generated.

Microphone Access

Enables the user to record customizable voice audio to simulate realistic context during an incoming simulated fake call.

Local Only. Stored within the local sandbox; never uploaded.

Contacts & SMS Dispatch

Allows selection of trusted emergency contacts and integration with the device SMS/telephony engine to dispatch emergency alerts.

Local Only. Triggers local OS messaging intents.

4. Third-Party Libraries & Diagnostic Logging

The application uses standardized development frameworks and does not include hidden data-monetization SDKs, ad trackers, or background user-profiling analytics. Aggregated, fully anonymized runtime crash diagnostics (such as standard Google Play Console ANR logs) may be collected automatically by the Android platform to help with stability debugging.

5. Global Privacy Regulation Compliance

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) - EEA: Because no personal data leaves your physical mobile device to be processed by the developer, there is no remote processing, cross-border data transfer out of the EEA, or profiling. Your right to erasure under GDPR Article 17 is fully fulfilled at any time by clearing the application’s local storage cache or uninstalling the application.

California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) - USA: The developer does not “sell” or “share” any consumer personal information or sensitive location metrics. All categories of California personal data remain restricted to your consumer device storage space.

Digital Personal Data Protection Act (DPDP Act) - India: The application conforms to the core principles of data minimization and purpose limitation. Since data processing is executed entirely client-side under your dynamic physical control, no remote fiduciary data vulnerabilities are introduced.

6. Privacy Contact Information
